According to an article which was recently published by VisaGuide.World, the government of South Korea has taken certain measures to attract more tourists to the country. The plan is to attract around 20 million more tourists and generate around $24.5 billion in revenue. As such, South Korea has announced a number of changes in its visa policies.

South Korean authorities have planned on broadening the scope of electronic visa fee waivers for tour groups. These waivers will apply to tourists from Indonesia, China, the Phillippines and Vietnam. The application period will also be extended till next year. Since the South Korean culture and entertainment industry has gained significant global attention, it is also launching a special K-culture training visa.

It is designed for those who are interested in the Korean content and entertainment industry and want to learn more about it. It is also launching a digital nomad visa which will allow tourists to hold employment in their home country while staying in South Korea. In addition to launching these two visas, the country is planning several other initiatives to improve the tourist experience in the country. As per the article, they’re aiming to implement international mobile payment options in their stores which means that tourists would be able to make payments locally while using the payment applications of their home country.

In order to make navigation easier in South Korea, the country is also planning to implement mobility applications exclusively for foreign tourists. These applications will be developed in English and will allow tourists to make reservations for buses and trains as well as taxis.

These efforts come despite the fact that tourism in South Korea is higher now than it has ever been. It surpassed even its pre-COVID-19 numbers in terms of tourist footfalls. It is aiming to get more tourists despite the industry in the country being short-staffed.
